Grandma’s Tomato Sauce

Ingredients:

4.5 kg tomatoes
56 g garlic
680 g onions
680 g apples
56 g salt
2 teaspoons powdered ginger
680 g sugar
1 x 375 mL bottle Ezy Sauce

Method:

  1. Chop onions and tomatoes, combine in a bowl and leave overnight.
  2. Boil onions, tomatoes, apples, ginger and garlic for 3½ hours.
  3. Add ¾ cup Ezi-sauce, sugar (warmed) and salt.
  4. Boil for a further 1½ hours, stirring frequently.
  5. Moulie and pour into hot clean bottles. Makes about 4 litres.
