Women’s Wear Daily reports Modern Family star Sofia Vergara to Launch ‘Sofia’ Fragrance. The 41-year-old Colombian star says the perfume reminds her of home, with its floral notes of orchid and rose, with violet. There are fruity notes too: plum and blackberry, while the woody base notes are vanilla and sandalwood.
Sofia wanted the new fragrance to reflect her personality, not just her Colombian roots but also her flamboyant and sparkling nature. In creating the container for ‘Sofia’ she was inspired by her faceted emerald ring to produce a cut glass style of bottle, but instead of green the liquid inside is a feminine pink color.
The perfume was created by Parlux, Ltd who also make scents for Rihanna, Jay Z and Paris Hilton. For the packaging Sofia went to Maesa. She intends to keep creative control over her new fragrance, in order to build up her own brand.
Sofia is used to celebrity endorsements after being named the face of CoverGirl in 2011. She also promotes Head & Shoulders shampoo, and has her own fashion lines at Kmart. She has a son of 19 and is engaged to Nick Loen, a 38-year-old businessman. Thanks to Modern Family, Sofia’s profile has been raised both in the US and Hispanic regions, and in May she will be seen on the big screen in ‘Chef,’ alongside Dustin Hoffman, Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson.
Sofia realises how much she owes her fame and fortune to the TV show. When she first started acting she thought her accent would hold her back, but instead Modern Family has made her a household name. This has enabled her to launch her very own perfume, and she hopes to build on the brand so that she has an alternative to acting when she retires from the screen.
‘Sofia’ fragrance will be on sale from April 24th on HSN: $48 for 50ml bottle.
