In the late nineties, when the boy band phenomenon was sweeping across the globe, Backstreet Boys were at the helm of it all. With over 130 million records sold to date, Backstreet Boys ruled the airwaves in USA, Canada and most of Europe. From their debut in 1996, they have always featured in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. However, it seemed things were going south when Kevin Richardson decided to leave the 5-boy band in 2006.

Despite that hitch and a slight drop in sales, Backstreet Boys kept going strong. Rumors of Richardson rejoining gathered pace in 2010 after he appeared in Oprah Winfrey’s show with the rest of the group. He joked that “it took a call from Oprah to get me out of retirement”, implying that he was giving it a thought.

With the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block doing a joint tour, he appeared on stage with the rest of the group at a performance in the O2 arena in London on Sunday. With K Richardson back to Backstreet Boys they also announced that they are planning to record some songs with NKOTB.
