It’s a sad day indeed for millions of Jenni Rivera’s fans across the globe. The Mexican American TV personality and musician is dead. The singer met her death after the plane she was travelling in crashed in Northern Mexico. In confirming the incident, Jenni’s brother Gustavo Rivera told the Spanish wing of the CNN that the aircraft was totally destroyed adding that it is a very tragic incident.
Jenni will be remembered for her humble beginnings having at one time sold scrap metal in addition to hawking music records. She rose to fame and at the time of her death she was the owner of several business empires. She has died having a TV production company and a jeans company and among others. She was also the brains behind Jenni Rivera enterprises which handled production and marketing of her music.
On board of the tragic plane were six others who also met their death in the incident. Among the six were her make-up artists, lawyer and publicist. The cause of the crash has not been established.
Among the awards Jenni got from her music include two Billboard awards, one of which was the favorite female Mexican artist. She was nominated for the Latin Grammy awards in 2002, 2008, and 2011. The deceased singer is said to have sold about 15 million records.
Jenni’s powerful voice as well as her great personality earned her the nickname ‘La Diva de la Banda’ which loosely translates to ‘The Diva of Banda Music’ in English.
She was a darling to many as her manager Pete Salgado, who is also her business manager, puts it.
The singer was 43 years of age at the time of her death. She is survived by five daughters having been married three times. The news of her death has been met by emotional reactions from fans and fellow stars alike. Our deepest condolences go to her daughters, friends and family members. May her soul R.I.P.
