The star of the popular movies “The Whole Nine Yards,” “Armageddon,” as well as “The Green Mile,” Michael Clarke Duncan lost his battle to recover from a heart attack on September 3rd at the Los Angeles hospital, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at the young age of 54 years old. The heart attack hit him on July 13th, 2012 and Omarosa Manigault, his fiancé used CPR to resuscitate him but unfortunately he had already been without oxygen well over five minutes which lead to permanent damage to his organs. He wasn’t able to recover from the heart attack and was in the hospital until his death early Monday morning. His body functions slowly but steadily declined until they eventually shut down completely.
Michael Clarke Duncan started out his acting career by becoming the bodyguard for many celebrities including Will Smith, LL Cool J, Martin Lawrence, Jamie Foxx and also The Notorious B.I.G. while he was in Los Angeles trying to get his acting career started. After the death of The Notorious B.I.G. in 1997, Michael Duncan quit working as a bodyguard and was cast in the movie “Armageddon” as Bear a year later in 1998. While playing the role, he met Bruce Willis which led his acting career to skyrocket from that point forward.
News of the actor’s death is a tragedy not only for all of his fans and family but for his fiancé as well who is completely devastated. After receiving news from doctors that things were looking up, she had high hopes that Duncan would pull through. He was a hardworking, dedicated man who fulfilled his dreams and became a star through the many roles in movies that he’s played in. His determination to become an actor has turned him into a sensation that will be remembered for years to come. He had a goal and he stuck to it which is his most admirable traits. He will be greatly missed by many but his spirit will never be forgotten.
