Among the movie making culture, the announcement of the Oscar Nominees is the best time of the year. The 2012 Oscar Nominees, like years past brings a healthy collection of the well-known stars as well as those who will soon be listed as “up and coming.”
Among best picture are some movies that were commercial hits, such as Moneyball and The Help, while still others such as the Descendants didn’t do fantastic at the box office but had great critical appeal.
The best actor category has superstars like George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Gary Oldman doing battle with lesser-known actors such as Demian Bichir and Jean Dujardin. Among the best actress nominees, up and comer Rooney Mara is facing off against veterans like Viola Davis, Glenn Close and Meryl Streep.Hundreds of other actors and actresses populate the list of award winning hopefuls and as usual, the actual winners in at least a few categories are bound to surprise.
