Polish supermodel Anja Rubik has been chosen to launch the Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina Eleganza Fragrance 2014. At thirty, Anja is bang in the middle of the target age range for this new perfume. She is no stranger to the world of perfume, having already appeared for YSL in two campaigns for Paris Je T’Aime and Parisienne. She also appeared for DKNY in their Women Energizing ads, for Elie Saab Le Parfum, Trussadi, and cosying up to DJ Mark Ronson in the men’s cologne ‘Fan de Fendi.’
Sophie Labbé, of International Flavors and Fragrances, was asked to develop her youthful 2012 Ferragamo Signorina formula to suit more sophisticated women of between 25 and 35. She has previously worked with Bulgari, Kenzo and Body Shop among many other brands. The new fragrance opens with a burst of fruit, grapefruit and pear, then floral notes creep in with golden osmanthus and almond powder. The base notes are more chypre in character: patchouli and white leather. It will come in the same flacon as Signorina, but with the pink bow replaced by beige and the Eleganza logo embossed in gold.
Ferragamo’s creative director, Massimiliano Giornetti, describes the typical wearer of this perfume as having ‘a certain elegance and femininity – a sensuality that is still natural, but more self-aware.’ After working for ten years ago as a knitwear designer at Ferragamo, he has succeeded over the past three years in producing stylish fashion for both men and women, as well as the iconic footwear, for the long-established Italian brand.
The ad campaign, photographed by Mario Sorrenti, shows blonde Anja in a revealing peach gown with her hand across her half-exposed chest, reposing on a green sofa and gazing soulfully over the beribboned bottle. Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina Eleganza Fragrance 2014 comes in three sizes: 30-ml ($76), 50-ml ($108) and 100-ml ($142). Scheduled to go on sale later this month, February 2014.
