Babs Tempted By Eastenders Return

Former Eastenders and Carry-on films legend Babs Windsor has said that a return to the BBC’s top soap drama is tempting but that she isn’t quite ready for the show’s exhausting schedule. But she certainly hasn’t ruled it out.

In recent years since she left the show, Barbara has stayed on British TV screens courtesy of her role as the Queen of Bingo for the country’s most popular bingo and slots website, Jackpotjoy.

The star is now 75, and last appeared in Eastenders back in September 2010 when her character “Peggy” left the famous Albert Square following a fire at her Queen Vic pub. Since then, the actress has helped promote various slots and bingo games for Jackpotjoy and appears as a front person for the entire brand. She also appears in cartoon version on the website on Jackpotjoy’s slots and bingo games – dishing out Royal pardons and favours in various games which first perfectly with the Jackpotjoy brand.

This is a site renowned for the creativity of its slots and bingo games and which prides itself on not taking life too seriously; Just for the Jackpotjoy of it – as the site’s slogan goes. And this fits perfectly with the character of the quintessentially British saucy Eastenders actress – which is why she complements Jackpotjoy so well.

Regular TV ads for Jackpotjoy’s slots and bingo games have seen the “Queen” in various roles – including officiating with the chequered flag as two old-aged pensioners race off at Santa Pod in their mobility scooters.

Quite whether Jackpotjoy’s Queen of Bingo will return to Albert Square or not remains to be seen, but it seems likely that she will remain as the face of Jackpotjoy’s slots and bingo site. She has stated that she really misses EastEnders  and that she loved appearing on the show, but that she was “absolutely exhausted” by the time she left in 2010. Promoting Jackpotjoy is clearly less tiring!

But Barbara did reveal that she’s been asked to return in her role as the Mitchell family’s matriarch a number of times and that she’s sorely tempted. Barbara, who was awarded an MBE back in 2000, first joined the soap in in 1994, but had to take a couple of years off from 2003 due to a debilitating virus.

Until she makes a decision – keep an eye on the Jackpotjoy TV ads – or have a look on YouTube as some really are hilarious.
