BAFTA Awards 2012 Shortlist Is Announced

The British Academy Film and Television Awards nominees have been selected. ITV’s drama series, “Appropriate Adults” leads the way with four nominations. It has been picked for best mini-series category and three actor’s nominations. Dominic West, who plays as his namesake Fred West, has been picked for lead actor. Emily Watson and Monica Dolan have been nominated for best lead actress and best supporting actress respectively.



BBC’s, “Sherlock” got three nominations for its cast. It will be banking on Martin Freeman and Andrew Scott who will go face to face for best supporting actor. Benedict Cumberbatch who plays soccer and practices yoga in his free time, got a nomination in the lead actor category. Another show with three nominations is “This is England ’88” that is aired on Channel 4.



Maggie Smith who appears in “Downtown Abbey” was nominated for the best supporting actress award. This is the fifth time she has been nominated at the BAFTA has never won an award. The BAFTA ceremony will be held on 27th May at the Royal Festival Hall. The full list of BAFTA awards nominees 2012 is available on the BAFTA website.
