Romanian-born model Diana Moldovan’s trademark piercing gaze is uncharacteristically covered in Dior’s latest eyewear campaign. Shot by famed photographer Peter Lindbergh, Moldovan (who is currently represented by IMG Models) sports a stunning high-cut white turtleneck embellished with a dazzling array of silver sequins that stop just underneath her chin. The frames themselves are certainly covetable: oversized black lenses (think Park Avenue ladies who lunch) are beautifully offset by bone china-colored rims. The models clings to a silver pole, perhaps waiting to hail a cab to meet an intriguing new suitor or simply pausing during a day of flurried socialite activities.
The campaign’s only other accessory, a delicate silver ring, is perfectly in keeping with the classic feel of the shot. Moldovan’s hair, wound into an elegant yet simple updo, perfectly complements the sophisticated frames.
Moldovan — who has modeled in recent seasons for brands including Kenzo, Missoni, and Guy Laroche — more than proves she can hold her own against superstar Rihanna, whose “Secret Garden” campaign for Dior was released the day before her own. Fans of the house have certainly been kept on their toes this past week — and have been inspired to keep an eye on the seemingly limitless directions and unmatched creativity of Dior.
