The Dolce and Gabbana Holiday 2013 Campaign features models Marine Deleeuw and Ji Hye Park posed before giant golden festive wreaths. They also appear in D&G’s spring-summer 2014 show, but for the Christmas collection they are garbed in wool and lace, tweed and chiffon.
The main accent is on gorgeous feminine apparel, such as a bright scarlet miniskirt that ends in a cummerbund at the waist, making a real impact. This is teamed with a blouse in peachy chiffon, which has a semi-transparent bodice. Over it is worn a chic black fur jacket.
The theme of winter warmth is followed through with a couple of dresses in weightier fabrics. A cosy woollen dress is prettified with touches of lace, while a grey tweed has scallops of black lace at the sleeves and hem. A black and white tweed dress is cinched at the waist and has a short flared skirt, along with black lace sleeves.
An ultra-dramatic look is achieved by teaming a demure black chiffon blouse – high collared and featuring long see-through sleeves – with a gorgeous pair of black pants, patterned with a bold floral trellis design in red and white. There is a matching bag to add an OTT floral touch to the outfit.
Accessories are minimal, but a cute bag and pointy-toed slingbacks are on offer in a matching silvery pattern. Jewellery is also sparse: a silvery pendant on a long chain, or pendant earrings featuring a cluster of mini-baubles, reminiscent of tree decorations.
This collection oozes class and manages to add ultra-modern style to traditional fabrics.
