“One Piece is a work of art”: Spanish Footballer and Shakira’s Ex Gerard Pique Chose Team Oda in ‘Naruto vs Luffy’ War

The list of top stars who love One Piece anime seems to be a neverending one.
With celebrities like Ariana Grande, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Keanu Reeves already in the fandom, the tally has seemed to rise after Spanish Footballer Gerard Pique professed his love for the anime through a tweet in December last year.

The tweet, translating to “One Piece Is A Piece Of Art” gained over 370k+ likes in a very short time after it was posted and the replies were filled with both English and Spanish-speaking fans sharing their love for the series.

Reactions To Gerard Pique’s Tweet

With an already ongoing debate of whether Naruto or One Piece was better, Gerard Pique’s timing with the tweet couldn’t have been better. It has been known for quite some time now that he is a well-known fan of anime and manga, and have previously spoken about his love for One Piece in interviews, revealing how he was hooked after just a few episodes.

The tweet made by him was met with a very positive response, and as mentioned before, fans were sharing their love for the series and celebrating the fact that the footballer seems to be a part of the fandom too.

Even the official account for Amazon Prime Video replied to the tweet talking about how Gerard Pique might just be living through his midlife crisis, and how they support it. The tweet translates to “the midlife crisis I support” through Google Translate.

Celebrities Who Have Admitted To Liking One Piece

Gerard Pique isn’t the only star who has not hesitated to confess his love for the anime, instead, there have been many instances where celebrities have been spotted wearing merchandise or have straight-up revealed how they like a certain anime or a manga series.

One fine example of this would be Ariana Grande, a famous singer who even has a tattoo of Chihiro from Spirited Away, an anime film that came out in 2001, and also has been noticed liking tweets related to One Piece on Twitter.

It is not that Naruto does not have any famous fans either, for instance, the Youtuber Sensation Me. Beast with over 168 million subscribers has openly admitted to liking Naruto, even going to the extent of getting his videos dubbed in Japanese by the same voice that gave voice to Naruto.

Nonetheless, it is important to know that both anime have their own values and the neverending debate between the fandoms of the two has not made any impact on the popularity of either.
