Drake was the first to take the lead, entering the awards with 12 nods, but didn’t leave Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre on Sunday evening to pick up any of his trophies. However, the Toronto rapper took to Twitter in his absence announcing that he was completing his album and having family time.

Drizzly was looking like he was the man to beat, but Kendrick Lamar eventually tied, being the second most nominated to Chainz. The best male R&B artist was Miguel, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake and Usher. The best group was Mary Mary, Mindless Behavior, Slaughterhouse and The Throne.

Some people wear a dress, but the dress wears them. Angela Simmons is a prime example, as she wore a strange, icy white dress to host the BET Awards pre-show on Sunday. The elaborate frock had no sleeves and far too much going on with bizarre ‘breast shields’, matching peplum and a feathery mini skirt.

Angela Simmons, 25 is known for being in reality shows and downplayed the rest of her appearance, wearing minimal make-up, a shiny diamond ring and bracelet and nude colored peep-toe platforms.
