Henry Cavill’s abrupt departure from The Witcher has left many fans disheartened. The famous show produced by Netflix is now looking forward to Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt, the lead character of the show.
As a parting gift though, Netflix has partnered up with Athletic Brewing to launch an exclusive non-alcoholic beer called Geralt’s Gold.
What Is Geralt’s Gold
The beer features less than 0.5% ABV which makes it perfect for people looking for a non-alcoholic beer that still packs a punch of flavours.
The beer is available now on the Athletic Brewing website and will be released in select stores across the US in the coming weeks. It is priced at $14.99 for a six-pack. The official listing on Athletic Brewing’s website mentions the beer as “Geralt’s Gold is a legendary Helles inspired by Netflix’s The Witcher.“
Henry Cavill, who himself is a fan of non-alcoholic beer claims that he has enjoyed the company’s products before and is excited to partner up with them as it’s a “great way to celebrate witcher“
Why Non-Alcoholic Beer
The choice to go with the launch of a Non-Alcoholic beer is not only because it fits the character and ambiance of the show well, but also due to the growth in sales of non-alcohol beer in the US, which apparently grew 33% in 2022 alone.
Netflix and Athletic Brewing are hoping that Geralt’s Gold will appeal to the fans of the show and that will be for sure a hit among Cavill’s fans.
Factors Leading To Cavill’s Departure
There are several reasons that have led to Henry Cavill’s withdrawal from the role of Geralt in The Witcher, one of the major ones being how Cavill wanted the series to be more book-accurate, while the show producers thought otherwise, hence forming a creative difference between the producers and the actor.
A few other reasons that might be actually the case include Cavill’s desire to focus on other projects, it is evident that Cavill is a busy actor, and just might not have the time to commit to The Witcher.
Some reports have also suggested that there may or may not have been a pay dispute between the producers and the actor, but this has not been confirmed by Cavill or Netflix.
