For singles, dating could be exciting and excruciating at the same time.
Meeting someone and getting to know that person is definitely thrilling and something to look forward to– since you might like that person. On the other hand, there’s the uncertainty that it could be the opposite and you definitely don’t want to hurt the feelings of your date. Here are some of the ways on how to end a first date without being anxious at all.
Honesty is ALWAYS the Best Policy
If you want to end your first date successfully, you should be honest and direct about whether you’d like to see that person again or not. As a rule of thumb, don’t tell anyone that you’ll call or that you’re looking forward to another date, just to be courteous. Leaving someone emotionally hanging would only cause confusion on his/her part and that’s not right. “What comes around, goes around.” If you don’t want that to happen to you, never think of doing that to your date either. However, if you really like that person, there’s no harm in saying those lines, but when in doubt, be honest and considerate.
If Not Interested, Don’t Pretend to Be
Just like what has been mentioned earlier, be honest with your date. However, this doesn’t mean that you should insult your date either. What we’re trying to say is that, don’t leave them waiting for something that’s never going to happen. You could always say something like, “Thank you, I had a wonderful time. Perhaps, we could keep in touch and stay as friends?” After saying that, if it seems like he/she still has a romantic interest in you, tell the truth. Let the person know what you feel– that you don’t think you’re right for each other, but you wish them well on their next date.
Head Home Separately
Even though this might seem practical and wise, especially if you’re heading home to the same area, it’s still inappropriate. Remember, you still have a long way to go in terms of getting to know each other. Right now, it’s important to keep a sense of independence. Say Goodnight and leave the place.
Keep Things Fun and Casual
One of the best ways to avoid the uncomfortable feeling after a date is by maintaining a casual approach all throughout the date. This would allow you and your date to feel comfortable with each other’s company. Be yourself and let your date feel that he/she should act the same. This would create an ideal environment that would allow both of you to know each other better. Likewise, this would give you an idea if you want to see each other again or not.
Don’t Make Them Wait
Last, but not the least, this has been an overrated advice when it comes to dating. Truth be told, this would just give the impression that you’re not interested. If you like the person, it’s best to leave him/her a message an hour after the date. If not, you don’t need to do anything about it.
