Abilities Of Luffy Gear 5

The amount of arsenal Luffy has while in his new transformation is insane, and way too overpowered when compared to what he was able to do during his previous Gear transformations.

Abilities like  Gomu Gomu no Dasshutsu Rocket, Gomu Gomu no Kaminari, and Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun are what helped in his final fight against Kaido, one of the former emperors of the sea. These abilities not only give him much power but also the agility to quickly react to whatever his enemy throws at him, essentially allowing Luffy to overwhelm the other every time.

What Inspired Eiichiro Oda To Create Luffy Gear 5

Last year, when Gear 5 was unveiled to the fans for the first time, fans were shocked to see how it was more of a comedic and fun transformation when compared to his other techniques, this twist was welcomed by many and was appreciated.

Oda revealed how he wanted One Piece to be what it was, essentially, a fun manga for the readers instead of a battle story-based comic. He also said how the base inspiration for the transformation as well as Luffy’s fight against Kaido was from the famous kid’s show Tom and Jerry. With Luffy being the fun one and Kaido being serious all the time, the mangaka successfully pulled off just what he wished for, something he thought he would not be able to do.
