Luffy, a goofy character with a rubber body loved by millions around the globe, is the main protagonist of the best-selling manga ever, One Piece. He has various techniques up his sleeve that allow him to transform into different versions of himself, with each transformation having its own unique abilities and attacks. Luffy is also assumed to be the mysterious character of “Joyboy” in the series.
The most loved and recent transformation is Luffy Gear 5 transformation, which allows him to have such a rubbery body that he can do things never imagined before, the transformation also allows him to manipulate his environment to his advantage in fights, almost making it overpowered. Luffy is also said to have a resemblance to the Legendary Sun God Nika in terms of appearance when he transforms to Gear 5.
Abilities Of Luffy Gear 5
The amount of arsenal Luffy has while in his new transformation is insane, and way too overpowered when compared to what he was able to do during his previous Gear transformations.
Abilities like Gomu Gomu no Dasshutsu Rocket, Gomu Gomu no Kaminari, and Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun are what helped in his final fight against Kaido, one of the former emperors of the sea. These abilities not only give him much power but also the agility to quickly react to whatever his enemy throws at him, essentially allowing Luffy to overwhelm the other every time.

What Inspired Eiichiro Oda To Create Luffy Gear 5
Last year, when Gear 5 was unveiled to the fans for the first time, fans were shocked to see how it was more of a comedic and fun transformation when compared to his other techniques, this twist was welcomed by many and was appreciated.
Oda revealed how he wanted One Piece to be what it was, essentially, a fun manga for the readers instead of a battle story-based comic. He also said how the base inspiration for the transformation as well as Luffy’s fight against Kaido was from the famous kid’s show Tom and Jerry. With Luffy being the fun one and Kaido being serious all the time, the mangaka successfully pulled off just what he wished for, something he thought he would not be able to do.
Luffy Gear 5 is now set to release in an animated version with the release of episode 1071 of the One Piece anime on August 6th, 2023. With the number of fans being in millions eagerly waiting for the episode to finally come out, it is almost a guarantee that the internet is going to break.
