After being teased in the manga for more than a year now, the hype about seeing
Luffy Gear 5 transformation being animated keeps on building day by day as we come closer to August 6th, the day when Episode 1071 is supposed to come out.
It seems like the creators of the show have recognized this hype build-up around the episode, and in order to take advantage of the same, teasers were released showing off what they had in store for everybody.

Luffy Gear 5 Teaser Takes Internet By Storm
The same teaser was released twice, one in English and another in Japanese, and has managed to gain over 19 million views in just 2 weeks alone, breaking many records in anime YouTube history.
This alone is enough to show how millions of fans around the world are eagerly waiting for the episode to finally drop this coming Sunday.
The teasers released on YouTube are titled “Luffy’s Peak – Attained! GEAR5.”, essentially speaking about Gear 5 will be Luffy’s strongest technique yet in the series.
Luffy Gear 5 Techniques And Abilities
A few of the factors that contribute to this particular transformation’s popularity is how it is completely different from its predecessors. His appearance is shown to be completely different from before, with many saying it pays a close resemblance to the legendary Sun God Nika.
However, appearance is not the only perk of this transformation, it grants Luffy an extremely rubbery body as well as the power to manipulate his environment to his own advantage.
Gear 5 Luffy has a lot of arsenal up his sleeve, some of them being Gomu Gomu no Dasshutsu Rocket, Gomu Gomu no Kaminari, and Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun, which was used to finally defeat Kaido.
These powers are granted by the Gomu Gomu Ni paramecia type devil fruit, which was also formerly known as the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika.”
