Before ice and snow make their fair weather clothes look totally unfeasible, the Mango Spring Summer 2014 collection has just been unveiled. French model Manon Leloup lends Gallic style to boxy black jackets, blazers and waistcoats in either black or white, the main keynotes of the range.
There are sporty undertones too, as seen in a bright blue long vest, worn with a black shrug and sneakers, or a white tee emblazoned with the evocative words ‘Venice Beach.’ Legwear is definitely body-hugging and slimline, in a range of lengths including hot pants. Miniskirts in black leather are worn with crop tops to reveal teasing inches of midriff. But it’s not all about sleek silhouettes and action-girl style. There are plenty of gorgeously feminine dresses too, complete with frills and furbelows.
The signature detail here is the asymetric look: a single shoulder strap, a slanting hemline. A floaty black minidress comes spotted with dark red, and the sexy ruched bodice extends over the left shoulder. A sleeveless black dress with a high neck shows off a diagonal multi-colored panel across the hips, with a ballerina-style flounce at the hem. A cream lace dress has peekaboo panels at the neck and hem.If you like the mix n’ match option of separates, a very girly skirt has the double-layered look, in gauzy see-through monotone stripes.
There are floaty ankle-length skirts too, and a sweet double-layered miniskirt with a vintage floral look. For the top half there are plain and simple black and white blouses. Or a delicate cream lace stripe, with a slanting ruffled neckline. A long, loose-fitting cream shirt, daubed with black paint-splashes, is teamed with a gauzy black see-through skirt, cut on the bias at the hem. Finally, cut a real dash in the allover black, white and red stripey jumpsuit if you dare – just the job for doing cartwheels in the park on a sunny day!
