One Piece has been a running franchise for 26 years now, and with every passing second, we come closer to the ending of the series. Millions of fans wait around the world as One Piece is about to enter its final arc in the manga, but the question arises how does one figure out the ending has begun? Turns out the creator of the series, Eiichiro Oda answered that question for us 25 years ago.
Oda has also revealed that he looks forward to finally ending the series within the next 5 years, and it will all come down to one character, which will not be Luffy.
What Is One Piece About
The plot of the series essentially revolves around a teenage boy named Luffy who has set out on an adventure of becoming the pirate king. While sailing through the seas he manages to find himself some friends like Zoro, Sanji, Nico Robin and many more who tag alongside him and his journey. The series revolve around their adventures and the challenges they face before they finally get to the mysterious One Piece treasure.
The series is loved by millions of fans worldwide, and is known for its amazing story design as well as character development. Luffy is someone who is shown to have a large amount of techniques and abilities, all unique from each other, but is goofy at the same time, this is one of the defining qualities he has that makes many love him.
Eiichiro Oda Reveals How To Identify The Final Arc Of The Series
One Piece is not only a manga or an anime, it has grown way more than that due to its ever expanding community and fandom to the extent that the creator himself finds trouble in keeping track of everything himself.
However, one thing that Oda is consistent about from the start is how the series is going to end, to the very last manga panel. In the year 1998, he revealed how one can know One Piece has entered its final saga, after this one particular character starts appearing frequently in the manga, and it is not Luffy.
This might not come to as a shock to many, but the character Oda was talking about was none other than Shanks, member of the four emperors of the sea and the leader of the Red Hair Pirates.
The release of One Piece: Red animated film last year has put many to the thought if the end is near as the movie was focused around on the character of Shanks and her daughter. However, many argue that the movie was about his daughter instead and the screen time he got was minor and not enough to consider an entrance to the final arc.
