One Piece, part of the big three Shonen Anime and the best-selling manga franchise ever, recently celebrated its 26th anniversary and along with it came many welcome surprises, one of which included a teaser for when Luffy transforms to his Gear 5 transformation on August 6th in Episode 1071.

What Is Luffy Gear 5
Luffy Gear 5 is a transformation that allows him to modify his environment as well as his own body, this transformation helps him to stretch himself to an extent that could never have been imagined before. This power was granted to him after he ate the paramecia fruit formerly known as Gomu Gomu Ni, it was recently revealed that the fruit is actually Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika instead which grants its user the attributes of the legendary “Sun God Nika“.
When Luffy Gear 5 Will Be Used
*Spoiler Ahead* Following the manga, Luffy felt the need to have more power than he already had to defeat one of the former emperors of the sea, Kaido. After falling short every time in his battle against the former emperor, he finally awakens the Gear 5 transformation. The change in the gear permits him to use unique techniques as well as use his body in a ridiculous way that none can comprehend. Through the help of this transformation, he is finally able to overpower Kaido and defeats him by sending him crashing to the ground.
Luffy Gear 5 Techniques And Appearance
It is no doubt that this new transformation allows Luffy to go beyond his abilities than he could have ever done in the past, thus allowing him to defeat one of his strongest opponents yet. Gear 5 empowers our hero to use techniques such as Gomu Gomu no Dasshutsu Rocket and Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun. These techniques when animated are going to overwhelm the audience with how they look as well as how much of an impact it gives through the screen.
While in Gear 5, he also has managed to gain a new appearance, close in resemblance to the legendary Nika God, his body becomes rubbery as well as his hair and clothes turn to white, and his pupils also see a change as they turn to a shade of pink.
In the teaser, Luffy exclaims, showing off his new power as “This Is My Peak!“.

The hype for the episode coming out on August 6 has been building up for months now, and the new teaser has not done anything except pure more fire to it. Fans wait eagerly to see the most awaited Gear 5 transformation yet with the release of Episode 1071.
