Debate On Starfield’s Lack Of Celebrities
While many have seemed to appreciate the absenteeism of any famous stars in Starfield, there were quite a few people who had a different opinion.
This whole dilemma started when a Reddit user, u/GrisWitch posted on the Starfield subreddit about how he liked there were no famous celebrity actors in the game.
The above post received more than 400+ replies, and while many agreed with the post, a fair number of users seemed to oppose this idea with many even calling it a disrespect to Patrick Stewart and his contribution to video games.
Nonetheless, it is important to understand that it is not the celebrity, but the game itself that should be a finished and well-developed product for the end consumer, something which Cyberpunk 2077 lacked at launch and faced a lot of criticism for.
Past Of Celebrities Appearance In Video Games
While the trend might be recent, the development of having famous stars in a video game to appeal to the mass audience is not new, instead, there have been many instances where influential figures were used either as voice actors, cameos, or even the characters making an appearance in a game.
One of the more recognized actors who has made a consistent impression in video games is Patrick Stewart, who we also talked about above. Stewart is known for his role in Star Trek as Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Charles Xavier in the X-Men franchise.
The actor has not only contributed to movies though, as he also voiced these characters in Video Game adaptations of Star Trek and X-Men. But it is not only that, he has also given his voice in Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone as well as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
A few other famous celebrity appearances include the appearance of Kit Harington in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Ricky Gervais in Grand Theft Auto IV.
