Stunning is the word that springs to mind when you see Christy Turlington in Missoni Spring/ Summer 2014 Ads. Shot by Dutch photographer Viviane Sassen in Tenerife, the supermodel poses against a sun-drenched landscape and brilliant blue sky. Orange and blue plexiglass letters spell out the Missoni logo, with Christy draped decoratively around them wearing gorgeous garments in vibrant hues.
The fabric colors tone perfectly with the terrain. Christy is seen striding out in a simple shift dress in turquoise, splashed with black and orange. Or posing regally on a rocky roadside verge in a turquoise, black and white split skirt, topped with black geometric splodges. The turquoise and terracotta color scheme is repeated in a knee-length skirt, the top bearing the Missoni logo in the same shades against a black background.
Black and white feature prominently in the collection too. A sleeveless black and silver top merges with a bronze skirt streaked with black tiger stripes. It’s accessorized with tortoiseshell bangles and a black and white bag reminiscent of 60s Pop Art, plus black and white sandals with orange and black straps. Another symphony in black and white shows ultra-cool Christy posed against a dark blue ‘O.’ Her dress has a dreamy white translucent top with billowy sleeves, a black midriff section and slim white skirt with broken black lines.
A monochrome bikini and sarong has a jazzy pattern on the bikini and folkweave style bolero, with a transparent stripey robe falling like water below. Christy also poses on a roadside rock in a stylish black and white mini-dress, with elbow length sleeves and a V-neck. The fabric is ringed with narrow horizontal stripes and broad black bands, and there is an all-black yoke.
A couple of departures from this color palette show Christy in pink and purple shifts, but the signature stripes and geometric patterns remain.
