Jason Kidd was arrested for a Driving under the Influence after crushing his Cadillac SUV into a street light pole. The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning. Kidd was the only occupant of his vehicle at the time and he was treated for minor injuries at Southampton and discharged.
The 39 year old NBA star signed for the New York Knicks just forty eight hours prior to his arrest. He had previously featured for the Dallas Mavs and New Jersey Nets. He made two Finals appearances for the latter. His move to the Knicks is reportedly worth US $ 9.5 million.
The events leading up to the crash are sketchy at best but it is believed that Kidd disregarded advice not to drive in his inebriated state. He was in the company of friends after a night of partying and broke a light fixture outside the Chi-chi East Club. We await to see what actions his new club will take against their new employee.
