Gold winning Olympian Lindsey Vonn might have to take a break from skiing after she tore two knee ligaments on Tuesday during the Alpine World Championships. The four time World cup champion lost her balance sending her tumbling in to a gate just when she was 0.12 seconds behind the race leader; guess it just wasn’t her season after all.
As protocol dictates, Lindsey was immediately airlifted to a hospital where she was reported to have a torn anterior cruciate ligament along with her medial collateral ligament on the right knee. With such an injury just at the start of the World Cup season, Lindsey will have to sit out for the season. In fact, a statement made by ski team medical director, Kyle Wilkens confirms that Lindsey will make her return during the 2013-2014 world cup season.
As for Lindsey’s fans that were eagerly waiting to watch her win, seems like you will have to wait for another season. All in all, we wish Lindsey a quick recovery.
