In news that slipped under the radar over the weekend, Natalie Portman got married to Benjamin Millepied in Big Sur, California. This event kept in line with Portman’s highly secretive personal life. The closest she has ever come to publicly discussing her romance with the “Black Swan” choreographer was during her acceptance speech at the 2011 Oscar awards when she acknowledged his influence on her career.
The “People” magazine broke the news of the low key wedding on Sunday afternoon. The two have been an item for a very long time and have a fourteen month old son together. It is reported that the wedding ceremony was conducted according to Jewish tradition. It is reported that a number of celebrities were in attendance, such as Macaulay Culkin, Ivanka Trump amongst others.
Millepied and Portman met in 2009 when she was selected for a role in “Black Swan” while he was the film’s chief choreographer. The Frenchman soon had her knocked up as she was spotting his baby bump little over a year after they started courting. They got engaged in winter of 2010 while she was expectant with Aleph, their first born.
Portman is definitely head over heels in love with her French beau. In a recent interview with French mag, Figaro, she was quoted as saying that she is giving serious consideration to switching nationalities. “A successful family is something that always comes first. My personal life and happiness are the most important”, she stated. She also said that she wouldn’t have any qualms with a new passport since she lived in France when she was younger.
The wedding ceremony was conducted at sunset on Saturday. It was done at the waterfront on privately owned grounds overlooking the ocean. After Millipied and Portman exchanged vows, a wedding reception was held at the exclusive Ventana Inn and Spa.
