The 2012 MTV Movie Award nominees list has been officially released. There are some surprising appearances on the list, as well as new categories and of course, some people will be disappointed. New categories are Best Gut-Wrenching performance, Best On-Screen Dirtbag, Best Music and Best On-Screen Transformation.
This is the 21st edition of the awards and some winners from previous years are certain to go home empty handed. “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” won three top accolades last year. This year, its sequel “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” has not received any nominations for its performers. It has however been nominated in the Movie of the Year Category.
The movies that have scored several nominations are “Hunger Games” and “Bridesmaids”. With eight nominations each, these two films are hoping to run away with every award. This year’s nominations were conducted by a panel of actors, producers and industry stakeholders. Previously, voting was done by online public acclamation. Viewers will still get their chance from Tuesday 8 a.m., Eastern Time. The 2012 MTV Movie Awards ceremony will be conducted on June 3. The full list of nominees is available on the MTV website.
